The split of the Wandering Albatross (D. exulans) into 4 species has been accepted by many authorities. Most Wandering Albatrosses in Australasian waters are Antipodean (Antipodean sensu stricto and Gibson's) but are difficult to separate in the field from Snowy Albatrosses (exulans sensu stricto).
